Still Spying On Your Cat? Try A Cool New Tool For Even More Feline Fun

When we first heard of the so-called ‘nanny cam,’ it seemed a natural for cat parents to adapt: watching out cat via the Web while at work is the most purrfect use of office time ever invented, and if cats were smart enough to coyly dodge the camera, well, a second camera caught another angle. We were in love with viewing our cats in action, or inaction as they catnapped and stretched the days away.

But technology has advanced so even the best little cat-cam in the world now looks like something the Flintstones used. The Petzila company has rocketed us way past the International Space Station with its latest advancement called the PetziConnect. This system lets pet parents interact with their pets from anywhere—no more calling your pet sitter and asking her to hold the phone up to Fluffy’s ears so you can assure your cat that you’ll be home soon, with a new catnip mouse. Instead, you’ve got PetziConnect, an easily installed device that connects to home WiFi and contains an HD camera, high-quality audio and the ability to dispense your cat’s favorite treat---all you do is touch a button via the PetziConnect app. An iOS and Android app also lets you immediately share those cat pix and videos via social media—besides the usual Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, the company is about to add its own social playground, Petwork.

Here’s what Petzila told us about PetziConnect: “It has a sleek, safe and durable design, an EZ-PZ set up and intuitive interface, multiple mounting options to simply place it anywhere that suits your needs, a sophisticated treat dispensing system that allows you to use the widest variety of treats available to meet the needs of even the choosiest of pets.” A single push of a button lets you dispense 1-3 of your cat’s fave treats, right into the viewing area. The dispenser holds more than 100 treats at a time, but its ‘treat level notification’ tells you when the goodies are running low. The HD camera delivers up to 720p video, there’s a wide-angle viewing range with ‘pet motion detection’. AND the “PetziSkinz” are customized covers to blend with any décor, or incorporate your cat’s fave hues.

Two years in development by a team of engineers, animal trainers and behaviorists, “PetziConnect is designed to bring that little ray of sunshine into your and your pet’s day when you’re away from home and need it most.” said David Clark, CEO and founder of Petzila.

PetziConnect is priced at $169.99 and is poised for delivery in time for the holidays. You can see the PetziConnect in action in this video, which consult-cats Shamrock and Starli have already checked out, and they’re busy hinting to Santa that they’d like to PetziConnect!
